Accupressure or Acupressure is a traditional Chinese medicine, A treatment of symptoms by applying physical pressure with the fingers of hand to specific pressure points on the body to treat ailments such as arthritis, tension and stress, aches and pains and menstrual cramps. Accupressure is a three thousand year old Chinese system of healing and pain relief. Pain relief is believed to be accomplished by stimulating or sedating the selected acupuncture points. This process is also used in general preventative health care. Accupressure is helpful to restore a healthy energy balance. Acupuncture is also used to improve well-being and to treat acute, chronic and degenerative conditions.
In Accupressure before you located the point, your fingers are comfortably positioned right on the spot gradually lean your weight towards the point to apply the pressure. Using the weight of your upper body enables you to apply firm pressure without strain. To stimulate an acupoint properly, you must apply deep probing pressure. Try the next point or points until you find one that does. It is important not to just rub the skin over the area but to apply firm downwards pressure with your thumb, knuckle or elbow. When using your thumbs, the pressure needs to come from your arm rather than the thumb joint, otherwise the support person will end up with sore thumbs.
